Iao Heals Print

Those of you who know me personally…know that I really don’t enjoy landscape painting 😅  But finding my voice in the medium has changed the game completely! Who knew it was (sorta) as simple as that…to realize your limitations and despite that, paint what you see in your mind and heart. Growing up in Wailuku, ‘Iao and the river were always accessible. After living in Japan, my art would understandably take on an influence from the culture and surroundings. I’m looking forward to challenging myself with new landscape paintings, without the pressure of replicating a photograph (which IMO what is the point)…but instead portraying the spirit and essence of the subject.
