Ekolu Mauna is a store for Native Hawaiian-designed or made goods. We are located at 737 Kapahulu Ave in Honolulu. We soft opened in January 2024. The store opens daily at 10 am, and closes at 6 pm on weekdays, 5 pm on weekends. We are working towards a full launch in the spring with marketing and online retail.
OUR PURPOSE
Ekolu Mauna is for kama ʻāina and visitors on Kapahulu Avenue to connect with and support Native Hawaiian creators and businesses. Brick-and-mortar retail is increasingly challenging nationwide, and particularly in Hawai'i. High rents often create hard barriers between ʻŌiwi brands and customers in high-traffic areas. As a result, customers looking for authentic, indigenous-designed or made goods in Hawai'i may not find them, while indigenous creators can struggle to make ends meet and share their work with the world. This has to get better, and our purpose is to kōkua for change.
WHO WE ARE
We are a Native Hawaiian family-owned business. In 2021, we purchased Soccer Locker Hawaii, a local small business that has provided soccer coaches, athletes, and parents with the cleats and other equipment needed to play for 49 years. It’s a privilege to help families and communities to participate in the world’s most popular sport.
After purchasing Soccer Locker, we moved the store to a new, larger location a short distance on Kapahulu Avenue, so that we could grow.
In the new space, we have room to create a second retail experience that we are excited to share - Ekolu Mauna, a shop dedicated to uplifting Native Hawaiian designers and makers.
We are here to work with ʻŌiwi brands. As a stockist, we offer two options: Wholesale Purchasing and Consignment. We also display brand and artist info with their social media handles in-store to help further the brand and product reach of our partners.
